Dear St. Joseph Family,

We are pleased to announce that Michael La Haie has been selected as Principal of St. Joseph School for the next school year. Mr. La Haie was selected from a talented candidate pool in a competitive process that included input and participation from the St. Joseph community. Michael will work with Mr. Martin to ensure a smooth transition in leadership and will officially start as principal on July 1.

Michael has been involved with Catholic schools as a teacher, administrator and parent for almost 30 years. He taught public high school in Memphis and then began his Catholic school teaching career at Cathedral School in Memphis in 1991.  Michael, his wife Mary, and their two children, Andrew and Sara, moved to Nashville in 1993 where he taught six years at Holy Rosary Academy and six years in Metro schools before earning his master’s degree in Education Leadership from MTSU.  During the six years in Metro schools Michael stayed involved in the Diocese by working with the high school youth group at Holy Rosary and taught 8th grade Religious Education (Confirmation) at St. Henry.  Michael spent seven years at St. Cecilia Academy as the Dean of Student Affairs and has spent the past seven years at Father Ryan High School as the Dean of Students.

Michael is committed to ensuring that all students learn to their maximum potential and to fostering innovation through collaboration with teachers, staff, students and families. His connection to Catholic schools is what has kept his faith strong over the past 30 years.  Sunday Mass, his relationships with priests and sisters, and strong faithful friends, are just some of the reasons he loves the Catholic church and loves being involved with students as they learn about their faith and how it can help them on their journey to adulthood.

Michael lives in Nashville with his wife Mary and their family has been parishioners at St. Edward, Holy Family, and at St. Henry for the past 19 years. Michael enjoys traveling with his wife to new places, hiking, golf, watching golf, NASCAR, weather, gardening, playing with his grandchildren and walking his dogs.

Michael looks forward to leading St. Joseph School and continuing the positive changes Mr. Martin has made during his tenure.  He looks forward to meeting everyone: faculty, staff, students, parents and the St. Joseph community. Michael is ready and excited to immerse himself into the St. Joseph community and become part of Bulldog Nation!

Please join me and all the St. Joseph Community in congratulating Mr. La Haie upon his selection as the next Principal at St. Joseph School.

With many blessings,

Fr. Jean Baptiste-Kyabuta
